I bought this printer because it is very similar in features and operation to my old Canon i550 which recently gave out on me. It also uses the same ink cartridges, which I have a bunch of, and they are cheap to replace. These printers are solid workhorses and economical to operate for routine printing. I have a newer Canon Multipass that I use for photo work. One problem with these older printers is that the print heads eventually quit working. Often it is an ink clogging problem that can be corrected with running the head cleaning sequence, or by removing the print head and doing a more aggressive soak and rinse procedure using diluted Windex or other solvent. Anyway, this particular printer did not work initially - it gave a troubleshooting code that the print head was defective. Two of the ink cartridges were empty and had probably been that way for some time. With the troubleshooting lights flashing, there is no way that I know of to do a routine print head cleaning. So I did a soak and rinse, dried the print head, installed some fresh ink, and after a few tries it came to life. I quickly ran a head cleaning sequence and a print head alignment and now it it working very well. No telling how long it will last, hopefully for several years, during which I can hit the print button without cringing at the cost.Read full review
The Canon i560 printer is fantastic! This is the 3rd one I have purchased. Use them on my older Mac G3 towers. Color and print super!
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
I had always struggled trying to get good quality photos from my HP printer, even though it was supposedly a photo printer. Then I got this i560 as a gift and was totally impressed. It prints great pictures and is a real workhorse for normal printing tasks also. I used Canon ink cartridges for a while, fearing that other knock-offs would produce inferior results, but then when I finally tried cheapo cartridges they worked just as well (even for photos) and they were about half the cost. I highly recommend this printer.
This is a super printer! It's fast, quiet, has great resolution for pictures and on top of that has 4 seperate ink tanks instead of costly ink cartridges that have the built in print heads. With some other recent Canon printers, they have combined the color tanks into one, which doesn't give you the opportunity to change just one color. Black is seperate in both cases. Another feature I like is the "auto power" option. You never have to turn your printer on or off. The option allows the printer to turn on whenever you send it something to print, and then shuts off after a period of time which you set. I don't know if this model is still made, but it's one of the best printers I've used.
I do a lot of photo prints so I wanted an inkjet with variable paper sizes that doesn't do anything but print, and this machine delivers outstanding quality and color. When my old one died (probably 10 years or so old!) I was loath to "try" something else, so I turned to good old ebay, where older is better - right? - and found this one. I like it especially because I can adjust the printhead, clean it, clean the ink jets, etc. etc., myself, and I am NOT a techie! The instructions are clear and easy to follow and what is even better - THEY WORK! So my new "old" i560 is sitting in it's proper place again, and I hope it has another ten years in it. Thanks Ebay!
