A replacement for my old Makita that burt out. No point in buying a new one with a charger & batteries as I have plenty of those. This offered a great cost effective solution.

The drill struggles with anything, unlike any other Makita drill I have had. Very gut-less. I am in the building trade, But I used this on some light home DIY, and was shocked that it couldn't do the easy work.... Drill stay in position but the motor is spinning.

Not had it too long yet so only time will tell. Did note they are now made in China rather than Japan, hopefully not to the Chinese usual standard which I find tends to be as cheaply as possible ie poor standard. Fingers crossed.

I bought 2 makita drills (hp457d) 7 years ago and I have give them death, abused them in every way you can imagine. The drills work aswell today as the day I bought them. I am now a hard core makita fan and so is everyone who knows me, they know how I abuse tools. Although the drills are not the same model (mine were the cheapest lowest quality makita do) I use the dhp453 at work in a similar manor and they work great still. I now own the 18v reciprocating saw, grinder, drills, impact driver, dab stereo, sds drill, led torch, usb charger and circular saw. They are are awsome even when compared to there 240v brothers. My favourite is the reciprocating saw followed close second by the sds drill then the grinder, no wait.....i love them all!
