    Great soldering iron

good product, works well and very good for use with vintage valve equipment. Could do with it's own heavy duty dedicated stand.

This a very good product to use if your just starting out stained glass making..the iron performs well with a constant temperature...I bought a "Draper" 100 watt iron for a similar price...the bit got a hole in it,and finally broke of a 3mm chunk..worse still a day later the Draper iron died....The Antex is a excellent starter iron...good value

  • good value for money

These soldering irons are just as good and reliable and last just as long as Weller-irons, that cost 3 times the price of the Antex. The same for the replacement tips. I also have a temperature controlled one, which i can regulate myself, which I prefer over the automatically controlled soldering irons. Please keep making them. There are 2 small issues: the screw that holds the tip in sticks out, which makes them unsuitable for a heavier stand and sometimes the heat of the shafts melts the handle a bit.

  • Good hot soldering iron ready for work

I have several soldering irons for electronic work but required a higher wattage iron for use in sheet brass model locomotive construction. This iron is ideal - heats up quickly and certainly maintains 100 watts. Well made, surprisingly good value.

  • Cheap but not recommended

I own one of these 100W Antex soldering irons but no longer use it. Although relatively cheap and of sufficient wattage for stained glass use, the rapid deterioration of the bit (and its replacement) and a lack of temperature control for the Antex soldering iron are the main reasons I switched to using a Weller 100W iron. Cheap does not mean good value on this occasion! I now use a 100W Weller W101 soldering iron - definitely not cheap but it does its job properly. The Weller soldering iron is a more popular choice for stained glass crafts simply because it performs better and lasts longer! Only if you you are seriously short of cash or really want a soldering iron that lacks temperature control should you consider the Antex 100W soldering iron. Incidentally, I also use a 15W Antex ...
