My old belt sander was a different brand, as well as being a corded unit and I continued to use it until the day it gave up and just wouldn't run anymore. I really don't think of myself as being hard on any of my power tools. This new (to me) Ryobi has a lot more power than the old corded unit and that really surprised me, as I was just hoping to get close to the power of the old sander, but this new one will remove some wood in a hurry and it's battery powered. This is also the 1st time I've bought a factory "reconditioned" tool and the word RECON is branded right into the plastic, which I think is great. I won't hesitate to but another tool in that condition. Overall, I'm what some folks call a Happy Camper.

What would I do without my Ryobi tools? Just added this belt sander to my collection. It runs on batteries, so I can take it anywhere. It’s lightweight and comfortable to handle. The sand belt is really easy to replace, so there is no time wasted.

i wanted this for some time but not for $100.00 bucks, so one day I was just looking for something else and I found one for $55.00 bucks so I bought it. I read about some folks who bought this and were complaining abut belt shifting, well just a note from what I did was, just turn the adjusting knob for the belt very-very little and keep the belt going it will, at lease for me stayed in line like it should. I did a small job and it worked great for me, will have to see in a larger job how long it keeps up. But for now i think it's great

I’m actually very pleased with this item but my initial delight has been slightly marred by what seems to be a fault with the adjustable front handle. It adjusts ok but has a tendency to slip while I’m sanding. I wonder if the catch is worn internally as it only slips forward and seems quite solid if I try to move it backwards. Shame as other than that the machine is perfect for small sanding jobs.

In the past with corded belt sanders it would remove material so rapidly you had to be quick and hold on tight. This one does the job just it just feels slow which fatigues my arms holding it so long.
