Bent and pretty useless!
The idea behind these calipers is good allowing thickness measurements to 1 mm to be made and shown on a scale. The problem with the design is the plastic material they are made from. The set I had delivered were bent out of plane on one arm preventing the tips of the calipers from meeting by some mm. Believing there was some good in the product I attempted to straighten out the plastic with a little extended physical force over a period of some hours. The caliper distortion remained making me think then that they were malformed in manufacture, rather than bent during delivery! Not much use to me. Great for a novice woodturner
As a novice woodturner being able to measure internal and external diameters is very helpful. This instrument allows for that and being plastic is light and will not suffer corrosion. On the downside I have found difficulty making small adjustments, But as a first instrument and guiding you to the possible more costly sprung version is very useful

Great instrument for measuring spheres
A great instrument for measuring around crystal balls/Spheres without the need for a ruler. Generally with measuring calipers you measure the object then place the calipers next to a ruler for the measurements. This item does the measuring for you. Great for anyone interested in gems.

Thought it was metal but it is just plastic - this was clearly stated by the seller, but I did not spend enough time reading the description - MY MISTAKE! The caliper is functional and well made, but I would much prefer a metal one.
