Economical control
These timer switches from a reputable manufacturer are excellent value, easy to set up and accurate. I used them for my Christmas light display but have also used them in the past for home security when in hospital switching lights on in different rooms at different times. They have a good capacity so can be used with a multi socket lead to control several fittings at one time.

Cheap quality
Broke after couple off days use, only works in the manual override mode which is pointless. The timer stopped working.

Does the job, cheap and simple.
A very straightforward timer switch. The build quality is acceptable and while it lacks features it is great value. Time is set by simply rotating the dial to the current time (it goes in 15 minute segments, so not ideal if you want precision). You set the on/off time with the manual switches around the ring, which are quite small and possibly fiddly for anyone with fine motor control issues. There is a manual override switch on the side, which simply turns it on (there is no option to switch the whole thing off). I rated it as good quality, but that takes into account the low price. It doesn't seem especially sturdy and the switches feel like they could break with a bit of abuse. However, this product doesn't seem likely to be confronted with any conditions which would break it, so ... A very straightforward timer switch. timer width
the timer is fine but like many otheres they are a pain in that they are too wide for multi socket . Thus preventing you plugging another item into what should be available holes. The profile should be no wider overall than a standard plug cheeers john

Good, but.....
I brought this to switch my electric blanket on while I'm at work....which it does but the downside is that the pins used to set the timer are set on top of a dark background and in the subdued bedroom lighting just a little difficult to see clearly.
