Auger works as described, much better than the traditional scoop type where you have to remove the entire assembly from the hole each time to dump. Digs through soil / sand rapidly. In solid clay I got about 3 feet an hour most of the time coming from pulling the auger out and dumping it, not super strenuous. It did take quite a bit longer to ship than expected, and the extension poles come raw steel not painted like the pictures. Would have been 5 stars if those minor things were communicated.
