About this product

Product Information

The story for Invasion From Beyond is based on the golden age of B-Movie science fiction thrillers, and goes like this: farm workers have been abducted and crop circles were discovered in farmlands outside Washington, D.C.. The locals' insults towards superstitious fears ("Slap an Alien") were a welcome party for the Martians ready to strike. You are a fully qualified Earthlink and must pilot your ship to stop the alien invasion by manipulating the ground-based firepower of Earthlink Command and prevent the aliens from taking over our beloved planet Earth.

The game features more than 30 missions of futuristic action with many secret levels, ships and weapons. Your prime directive is to kill all invading alien forces. However, whenever Earthlink Command wants you to complete a specific objective, you will be notified via a flashing communications icon.

Your ship features a radar, cargo hold, weapon mounts, aiming reticule and the Suck-O-Matic. The Suck-O-Matic is an experimental device used to teleport and blow items in and out of your ship's cargo hold. It is an essential part for much of the game's objectives.

You start the game with a machine gun and the Pummel Rocket. The machine gun is an auto-targeting chain gun that will shoot lead right at your alien enemies. The Pummel Rocket is an unguided rocket that needs your accuracy to be fatal. There are 12 more weapons that you will find as the game progresses.

The initial ships include the Silverfish, the first candidate in the U.N. fleet for frontline duty against the alien invasion. You also have access to the Red Devil, a fast and responsive aircraft, and the Whiplash MK.2, an incredibly speedy ship that can prove to be potentially dangerous. There are nine more ships for you to find in this 3D Arcade-style shooter with explosions, lighting and particle effects, multiple camera angles and in-game cut-scenes -- all at 50 frames per second!

  • Keep your expections low and you might enjoy it, like Battlefield Earth

Invasion From Beyond falls into the category of I saw a game with a cheap price and the description on the back enticed me enough to separate myself from my hard-earned $15. I wasn’t really expecting much from a bargain game and my first impression was, “I can see why it was only $15”, but then something strange and rare happened. I kept playing and gradually started to enjoy the game. I know, surprised the heck out of me too. On the surface, Invasion doesn’t present much. The graphics are kind of subpar for a PSOne game and music has that retro sci-fi vibe, but nothing memorable. Even the game play comes off a repetitive and frustrating at times. Usually this is enough for me to declare the game crap and banish it to the under reaches of my game collection (I keep 99% of the ...

  • Invasion From Beyond Not as Expected

Let's start by saying that I enjoyed the 50's retro cover art. After that things went downhill. The game play was sketchy and hard to follow. It seemed like they had the right idea behind it but didn't execute it very well. It was taken into account that the PS1 seems so outdated these days but there are many quality games on the system. This, for one, is not. 3 out of 10

  • horrible

Awful game! The cover art is why I purchased this, but the game itself didn't have graphics like this. It literally went into the trash.

  • Great Thank You
