The Inter-City 125 was the brand name of British Rail's High Speed Train (HST) fleet, which was built from 1975 to 1982 and was introduced into service in 1976. The train operates at speeds of up to 125mph in regular service, making it the fastest diesel-powered train in the world, a record it has held from its introduction to the present day.     A classic train given the famous haynes treatment

    Truly great manual of the iconic class 41/43 or old school 253/254 HST everything the layman needs to know about a train that has out serviced all other front line passenger trains that includes the mighty Deltic ! Will the 800 IEP class do 43 years ? Not a chance !!!

    That Was the age of the train!

    Great Book about the train that saves British Railways! As the Inter City 125 rolling stock is starting to be finally replaced, although some companies have up-dated their carriages with electric doors and containment tanks for the loos, this book is a fascinating look under the bonnet, as it were. It covers the original engines (The equally iconic Valenta V12) and the various replacements. After the last one has roared past into history, this book will grace my bookshelf for years to come.
