I'm sure that these work well for their intended use in a Direct TV system. However if you are looking to hook up a network device (such as a computer) to an unused piece of Coax running thru your house - then 2 or more of these adapters (with power supplies) is an excellent choice - as long as no other signals such as Cable TV are in that Coax wire. We are talking here of only a network connection - with no regular Cable TV. These were designed to work with Direct TV only - but they also work perfectly with No TV at all on the Coax - and they are much better and faster than powerline adapters - which I just got rid of. Otherwise you can spend $120 and up to buy 2 filtered adapters that will work with regular Cable TV on the line at the same time.

    • multiple uses

I have three of these units and they work together very well. it is a great way to extend ethernet over coax cables. They are essentially plug and play. One is hooked up between my router and the splitter. This provides internet to my two directv recievers. I have a second one in a room with my PC, with the other end connected to the splitter. This allows me to have a centrally located wifi router and use existing coax cables. The 3rd one is actually connected off the same coax to my dvr so I can have a 2nd wifi router in a different location. I found that I needed to use a splitter, even when I was going direct from DECA to DECA unit, For example, from PC- DECA- Coax- Splitter- Coax- DECA- Router... One thing to remember is you can do this with DECA on the same wires as long as ...

    • Works great!

Great, affordable option for extending home network access to areas with a coax connection but no existing ethernet connection. It's only a 100mb connection, but that's plenty for my application. Research DECA and the frequencies it uses before placing it on the same coax line with over the air (antenna) TV or cable/satellite services as the device can interfere with those signals/frequencies.

    • Internet Necessary

This device provides wired internet to your Genie DVR and any connected Genie mini receivers. Easy to hook up, does require an additional A/C power connection. Will also require a DirecTV single wire installation splitter as the coax from the dish has to go to this device and the Genie receiver.

    • Excellent bridging ethernet over coax

You need at least a pair of this product for it to work. Check youtube video at search youtube for "Using DECA as an alternative to MoCA" It works great!! It helps you to understand how it works.
