    All my life's a circle!

Harry's song provided many tales of the highest and lowest points anyone can and do all with a sanguine upbeat lesson in the foibles of human frailty underscored with a razor-thin cut and sting of the lessons learned along the way.

  • Old friend, new format.

Tbis is an entertaining, live CD. The songs are great in the typical Chapin story-telling style, especially "Mr. Tanner," "W-O-L-D," and "Taxi." The great songs are accentuated by Chapin's interplay with the audience. This interplay does drag a couple of the songs out, but the CD format allows me to skip them if they become tedious. The CD format is a definite improvement over the cassette that I've owned for years. For me, this CD is a glimpse into a live performance by an artist whom I truly enjoy, but who tragically passed away before I had a chance to see him.

  • Excellent sample of Harry's music

Harry Chapin is the only performer that I prefer that the recording be of a live concert instead of a studio album. Harry's charm, wit and compassion all come through in this concert. One of the things that attracted me to Harry was his self-deprecating humor. That is evident in the first 30 seconds of the first song where he pauses the song to do a quick self-criticism of his own music. The best songs on this CD range are not even those that were hits (like Taxi, WOLD, Cats in the Cradle). It's an emotional album, ranging from joyous (Dreams Go By, and Circle), to touching (I Wanna Learn a Love Song, and Mr. Tanner), to a tear-jerker (A Better Place to Be), to downright funny (30,000 Pounds of Bananas). I was lucky enough to see Harry three times in concert. It ...
