About this product

Product Information

Taito's arcade shooting series makes its Super NES debut with Darius Twin. Battle alien vessels patterned after marine life while charting a course through a 12-planet galaxy. Power-up your vessel's shields, lasers, and missiles to multiple levels by collecting capsules scattered across each stage. Unlike previous Darius games, acquired power-ups in Darius Twin are transferred to subsequent ships whenever you lose lives. Enlist the services of a friend for two-player cooperative blasting.

    Epic SNES Shooter

I have been arguing with my kids on the value of a good shooter. These days everyone is focused on the first person, but in the 80's and 90's it was the 3rd person shooter that had gamers pumped! Darius Twin for the Super Nintendo is one of the best, most compelling shooters I've played in a long time, and I have been a gamer for awhile now. First, the graphics utilize the full 32-bit capabilities of the SNES, and each level brims with colors. Each sprite adds character to the game, and you'd be hard pressed to find too many games with better graphics in the era. Second, the gameplay is both exhilarating and exasperating. Enemies come out of every orifice and from every side of the map. Additionally, this is a two-player co-op game, of which there are almost none these days. There is much ...

    not the best darius

there are better darius games from this era. sagaia on sega genesis is a pretty close representation of darius 2. darius gaiden and darius 2 on the sega saturn are definitely the best darius games you can get at home. pretty much perfect darius arcade experiences. this game is much cheaper than the others, and you can tell why. slower gameplay, and less levels than all the others noted above. animations seem copier. but still, its one of the better aracde shooters for the snes.

  • Shoot'em up with good graphics and controls and a good soundtrack!

Darius Twin is a fun Space Shooter for the Super Nintendo. Although it's a bit easy to get through the 7 stages but it has a big replay value because you can take several different routes through the game. You collect powerups for your first and secondary weapon as well as some shield powerups and all of them build up on each other. When you die the only things you'll lose a life and the shield but the weapons stay powered up. The Graphics are nice and colorful but Taito's programmers didn't use too much of the Snes graphical capabilities. I guess It could have easily been done on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis or the The turbografx 16/pc Engine as well. The Soundtrack is good although a bit repetitive in some stages. The Controls are spot on so there's nothing to complain here. One of the ...

  • Darius Twin Double the Fun

Play this as a team with a sibling or friend flying your Silver Hawks against enemy ships. Collect three different types of colored power-ups to improve your weapons and shields. The graphics are impressive showing what the Super Nintendo could do early in its infancy.. Equally impressive is the music by Norihiro Furukawa and Pochi. Worth playing and adding to your collection for nostalgia.

GAMEPLAY: A fairly degenerated version of Darius 2's gameplay, really. Your ship has three major systems: Lasers, Sidearm Shots, and Shields. Your lasers are powered up by collecting Red Power Cubes, Sidearms by Green Cubes, and Shields by Blue Cubes. You have two different kinds of lasers; you start out using the Photon Power Disc, which when powered up is a large shot but pretty weak. (It's vaguely similar to Darius 2's main weapon, really.) Collecting a Switching Cube will give you the Segmented Laser Wave Beam, which eventually powers up into a wave cannon that is better in every way than the Photon Power Disc. Sidearms aren't worth mentioning; they go from the standard Darius bombs into Sagaia-esque lasers into fireballs. Shields are standard Darius fare; every five blue Cubes ...
