Good research, poor production
This could have been such a compelling book, gathering together FIAT’s long competition history in an accessible form in a medium format volume. It’s a fascinating subject, but seemingly little known amongst the millions who think of the company solely as a manufacturer of small and medium-sized saloons. Its development of competition cars in the early part of the C20th is especially overlooked. Unfortunately, the author has been let down by poor copy editing and proof reading, all too often the case with Veloce’s publications. They’re an odd organisation: they cover potentially fascinating subjects, but the frequently bizarre layouts, advertising of their other products in apparently serious books, and offhand production values undermine otherwise potentially fine and valuable ...
