About this product

Product Information

Monster Jam is a demolition derby game featuring 26 licensed Monster Trucks, including such notables as Reptoid, Gun Slinger, and Grave Digger, each individually rated in horsepower, acceleration, cornering, and traction. Exhibition, Season, and Mini-Game modes are available in eight themed worlds. Players will compete within arenas set in Rome, Hollywood, the Big Apple, and even the Las Vegas Strip.

Both Exhibition and Season feature three types of events: Death Match, Cash Grab, and Points. Death Match pits players against a series of computer opponents until only one vehicle remains. Cash Grab is a mad dash to collect as many money icons as possible before time expires. Points has players crushing objects, running over vehicles, and more as they attempt to inflict a certain amount of damage within the allotted time.

The title comes from the game's power-up system in the form of a Monster Jam meter. As players slam into vehicles, a horizontal bar gradually increases. Once filled, the Monster Truck will be bathed in a blue light and become more powerful for 20 seconds of game time. Other vehicles are trying to do the same, and every hit received from a rival truck will diminish the Monster Jam meter based on the severity of the collision.

Besides ramming into other vehicles, players have additional moves to elude pursuers. Each truck can perform wheelies, spins, and jumps at any time by pressing a button in combination with a direction. Also found within the enclosed arenas are eight types of weapons, including missile launchers and machine guns, as well as wrenches to replenish health and boosts for a temporary surge in speed.

Monster Jam also features six different stand-alone events within the Mini-Game mode. Stadium Freestyle involves earning points by performing stunts, while both Stadium and Canyon Race are straightforward races. Lava Island has players trying to push their rivals off cliffs, and both Stadium and Arena Challenge do away with weapons. All events support two players except the Stadium Freestyle mini-game.

I was not impressed by this game. It is too hard to tell the direction you are supposed to be going in the Stadium races, which are so short that by the time you realize what direction you are supposed to go you have already lost. It is too easy to roll the truck over in all events, even when you are jumping actual ramps and not just debris. The freestyle mod is not authentic! When was the last time you saw a roll-over-ramp jump right into a pirate ship in the middle of a monster truck arena? There are no dirt jumps at all in any freestyle event, and it is very hard to get a good score in said events. It is also too easy for your monster truck to get stuck in car stacks, even when going over at full speed. The soundtrack was ok, but barely audible, and the sound effects were ok, but the ...

  • Monster Jam 07 PS2

IMO the game is OK at best. Graphics are good, play is easy, and free of programing glitches. The game itself is simple and not very realistic, courses are not much like the real thing and trucks lack certain realistic traits like power wheelies and realistic movements. Overall game is fun and easy for children, although it is no gran turismo. It reminds me of racing games sold 10 years ago, just with monster trucks. I would recommend it to anyone, but think it should be priced lower as the technology is old and just recreated. Todays gamers want realism and this game lacks that. It makes up for it in fun because it is the only monster truck game Im aware of. Overall it wont be the most played game in the stack, but will still get pulled out from time to time. It helps if you are into ...

  • Monster Jam (PlayStation 2, 2007

Bought it for my Grandson, he loves monster trucks, we watch them together in the morning before he goes to school, he had been renting a simular game weekly but that gets expensive. He loves his new game, he plays it all the time now, his favorite is still "Grave Digger" The Game plays well and is vary enjoyable and easy to use!

  • Moster Jam Game

I like the graphics and the freestyle. The game is a little to easy I beat the game in less than a week. Freestyle could have been a little better to some saves and flips should get points just like you can get in real life. I bought this game because I love monster trucks and I thought it looked a lot better than so of the other monster truck games.
