About this product

Product Information

Harry Potter fans will enjoy "Quidditch Through the Ages" because it's designed to look just like an actual classic reference book. The paperback cover is stamped "Property of Hogwarts Library," implying that it's straight from the famous archives of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Its cover is also purposely weathered for a realistic appearance. It comes with a list of borrowers on the inside. Notable readers range from Oliver Wood, the well-known Gryffindor team captain, to Harry Potter himself. The author is cited as Kennilworthy Whisp, a clever pseudonym for J.K. Rowling. Published on March 3, 2001, this 64-page book teaches muggles and wizards alike everything they need to know about this magical sport. The book begins with a history of the sport and the evolution of competitive broomsticks. It wraps up with the growing popularity of quidditch, some successful teams of the past, and the sport's role in the modern wizarding world. Of course, the book would not be complete without an explanation of the game, the intricate rules, and the tiny details about the elusive golden snitch."Quidditch Through the Ages" serves as an entertaining accessory to the traditional "Harry Potter" series. It lets true fans see threads from the supplemental texts that tie one book or film to the next. This book is also a nice companion to Rowling's later release of "The Tales of Beedle the Bard." Another wizarding classic, it tells tales that complement the Harry Potter universe, and they are accompanied by notes from Albus Dumbledore. These books provide valuable background to take your reading or viewing to the next level. The first edition of "Quidditch Through the Ages" was originally released in a set of two hardcover books along with "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." This version weighs 1.9 ounces, and it measures 0.2 inches in height by 5.2 inches in width by 7.6 inches in length. Its petite size and weight make it ideal for tucking into a bag and taking on the go.As with the other books in the "Harry Potter" series, the publisher for the U.S release was the Scholastic Corporation. If Rowling and her trademark style aren't enough, it also features a fabulous forward by Professor Dumbledore. There is even a delightful section about the author that gives readers a peek into the life of Kinnilworthy Whisp as a quidditch expert. As the ultimate reference guide, this textbook gives a complete history of the game and rules. This is the perfect companion to add to your collection of "Potter" books. This title is appropriate for kids and adults of all ages. Kids will enjoy this glimpse into the fantasy world of their favorite magical sport. Adults will appreciate Rowling's wry humor and attention to detail. Complete with reviews from wizarding celebrities, like Rita Skeeter and Gilderoy Lockhart, Rowling has thought of everything.Let yourself be whisked away into the world of bludgers, beaters, seekers, and keepers. Get an insider's view of the sport that's captivated wizards since the 10th century.

    Great little book

This was a fun quick read for my Harry Potter enthusiast. It can now act as a reference book as he reads on through the HP series.

  • Quidditch Through the Ages by J.K. Rowling

This book is designed to look old. The publisher did such a good job that I thought the seller sold me a used book instead of a brand new one, as advertised! The book is a great addition to any Harry Potter fan's library, as it gives background on the game of Quidditch, which is a team sport similar to soccer or polo that is played in the air (right, broomsticks, not ponies!)I purchased this book as a donation to the Brooklyn College chapter of Kappa Delta Pi (International Education Honor Society; visit kdp.org). Their annual literacy project involves read-alouds and donations of new books to several groups, including but not limited to, Sesame Flyers International on Church Avenue in Brooklyn, NY and the Amica House for Girls in Curep, Trinidad. I am certain that some child will be ...

  • Interesting JK work

The book is very small and is made of paper similar to a coloring book in texture. But what it lacks in style it more than makes up for in substance. Jk is at her best and the content is well written and terrific. She pokes a little fun at herself and the book with the forward by Dumbledore...but a definite recommend to any potter fan.. • Quidditch Through the Ages - great reading!

"Quidditch Through the Ages" is a delightful book and a great addition to any 'Harry Potter' library. Although this is a small book -56 pages total - I found it entertaining to read all the way through. A foreword by 'Dumbledore' is included as well as the library sign-out page of characters who borrowed the book. Have fun reading this book!

  • In great shape

Sometimes I worry about buying books online but what came in great shape, came quickly as well.
