Comprehensive and well put together
Whether you're a casual fan ('just the hits, please') or a dedicated one looking for a thorough overview of her career, this is the Connie Francis box set you need. It was released in 1996 by Polygram/A&M at the same time as the Moody Blues box set. When new it cost roughly $45 for the 4 discs but can be found for roughly half of that now. Besides the discs, there's a colorful booklet attached with biographical information and short histories of each track. Any fan of early to mid-60's music would benefit from owning this one.Whether you're a casual fan ('just the hits, please') or a dedicated one looking for a thorough overview of her career, this is the Connie Francis box set you need. Ultimate Career Spanniing Hits
This 4 CD set contains all of Connie's "A" sides but not all of her "B" sides some of these have been replaced with UK hits or Lp cuts that have become associated with Ms. Francis. It also contains her first 9 recordings (all duds in her words) and they are worth a listen. Listening to this set is an amazing experience, as the farther you go to the more recent songs the more power and professionalism Connie displays. This set is out of print but available if you look. It is an important addition to all music lovers collections. These are the real songs. No overdubs, no digital "enhanching" just Connie in front of a live orchestra recording. If the take is ruined, it was done over. Let's see Brittany or Madonna try that approach. Connie Francis is the prototype for all female pop singers to ... Purists will balk however, this is as good as it gets. The set boasts superior remastering and an extensive, comprehensive 44 page color booklet loaded with pix. If you can find this, grab it. If your not into collecting the albums or individual cd's. This puts it all in a nut shell and with great sound too. I beleive it's out of print. If you can find one in almost new condition for a great price like I did, go for it well worth it.
