Beautifully submerged
Just a phenomenal true story of courage and love. First read this book when I was 13 and became absolutely besotted with everything to do with WW2. This has been my favourite book for many years and now my 13year old daughter is reading it. Rena's promise is so beautifully written that you become completely submerged in every word. You can see the faces, you can hear the dogs and most of all you can feel the fear! Wonderful yet terrifying story that needs to keep being retold.Just a phenomenal true story of courage and love. Very well written, beware of emotions, even ones you didnt know you had.
A friend of mine recommended this book to me. It is very emotional but extremely well written. I couldn't put it down and finished it in a couple of days, Sometimes I had to pinch myself to remember that this actually happened as reading some chapters which where extemely brutal and degrading to a human being was just heartrenching but had to be written to show how far Rena was prepared to go to to keep her promise to her mother. Quite joyful at the end when both sisters survived that imfamous death camp.A friend of mine recommended this book to me. It is very emotional but extremely well written.
