This is another in the very good TV series starring James Bolam, Michael French, Jenna Russell and a host of other famous faces. Attention to detail is very good indeed in a rural setting in the early days of the National Health Service. Alongside the drama's and life stories, it is laced with wry humour. James Bolam plays Dr Arthur Gilder who is very reluctant to let the 'old' ways go. His son Dr Tom Gilder is a new broom who's 'new' ways often conflict with his fathers ways. One soon sees that there is room for both methods. Tom's wife Deborah (Jenna Russell), is a strong lady who transforms the sleepy indiiferent population of Ormston village into a lively force to be contended with. Too good to miss
