Additional Information
THE YOUNG VICTORIA is a lavish costume drama that focuses on the early life of Queen Victoria (Emily Blunt, MY SUMMER OF LOVE, THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA), one of the most venerated monarchs in British history. Born into nobility, her ascent to the throne was assured. Politically however, Victoria's inexperience meant that she relied heavily upon advisers to guide her. None more so than her cousin Prince Albert (Rupert Friend, PRIDE AND PREJUDICE), who, at the tender age of 21 she married and went on to have nine children with. <BR>Produced by Sarah Ferguson--herself no stranger to the trials and tribulations that befall young royalty--and directed by Jean-Marc Vallee (C.R.A.Z.Y), THE YOUNG VICTORIA is a visually-stunning film that gives candid insight into the challenges faced by those growing up in the public eye.

Very slow to dispatch. Took 12 days to arrive, which was after the estimated arrival time. Poor communication, no response to a message enquiring when item may be dispatched. Although item was exactly as described I wouldn’t buy from this seller again as I felt the service and communication fell below the standard I expect from an eBay seller.

A good watch if you are interested in the subject

The DVD was very competetively priced and arrived quickly. The film delves into Queen Victoria's life as a young woman in some detail, not least in the political machinations surrounding the monarchy in the 1830's-40's. From everything i have gleaned from other sources, the portrayal of her character is pretty accurate!

  • Ideal for watching when you just want a lovely film all to yourself.

Although a few years since it was made... it was good to see these young actors portray Victoria and Albert so well. As a fan of Homeland, I was keen to see Rupert Friemd in other roles.

  • The Young Victoria

An excellent period production covering the period of her life from childhood into womanhood and her transition from powerlessness to that of supreme power for the period. Most readers of history are aware of her deep and lasting love for Albert that in the end she observed until her death but this film reveals a marriage based on love in the traditional sense rather than an arranged marriage which was common for the period amongst European nobility. As in so many period pieces it it the attention to minor detail which leads to its success. Highly recommended.

  • Lavish Production of Queen Victoria and the Prince Consort's early years.

The film starts with Princess Victoria under a domineeering control of her mother and the Duchess's Controller. Yet she is determined not to agree to what they are seeking. Prince Albert appears on the scene, and at first is her distant guide, but becomes closer and closer and the film develops into the well known love story that we know of the Prince Consort and Queen Victoria. ALTHOUGH historically inaccurate in parts (her first prime minster seems to be making a play at her!) - it is nevertheless a very engaging film, I thoroughly recommend it!
