I use many books for teaching piano but I really like Faber and Faber. This Primer Level Lesson Book is easy for students to understand and the diagrams/illustrations are great! Kids really like the teacher/student duets. It's also a good idea when the students get to draw in notes - they remember better! I do have one suggestion: before the student starts playing using the lines and spaces the letters R.H. and L.H. are written in but I wish they would also put the Treble Clef Sign and Bass Clef Sign there as well -- that way the student could get introduced to those from the beginning. In fact, I pencil them in for every student (I have attached a picture).

This is clearly the most easy way to teach anyone how to play the piano. The 2nd edition that was released is TERRIBLE. VERY CONFUSING. Get all the older edition Faber books- they r much better!!!

My favorite book for "ordinary beginners"--i.e., 6 to 8 year-olds. A bit too difficult for super-young beginners, and a bit too childlike for older beginners.
