About this product

Product Information

The American soldier is why General David Petraeus's brilliant strategy of moving soldiers off isolated bases and out among the Iraqi people worked. Worked to find and kill terrorists, reclaim neighborhoods and help lead Iraq to democracy. Iraqis respect strength. They saw that American soldiers are great-hearted warriors who rejoice in killing Al Qaeda terror gangs that took over whole cities, raped too many women and boys, cut off too many heads. But Iraqis also discovered that these great warriors are even happier rebuilding a clinic, school or neighborhood. They learned from the American soldier that the most dangerous man in the world could be the best man too. - Follow the great Deuce Four battalion that became the center of a warrior cult dreaded by terrorists and revered by Iraqis. - Read about an elite Iraqi SWAT team taking down a terror cell for the murder of four American soldiers and a brave Iraqi guide. - Occupiers, not liberators? Tell that to the wounded Iraqi interpreter, who, convinced he was about to die, begged his U.S. commander to have his heart cut out and buried in America.

  • Wonder Why We Fight?

Check out Michael Yon’s biography at Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Yon; like anything else at Wiki – take it for what it’s worth. I bought the book because a friend urged me to watch the “Why We Fight” “documentary”. I define a “documentary” as an unbiased treatment of a subject – a provision of data without editorial. “Why We Fight” is not a documentary within that definition; it advocates the proposition that the US is an imperialist power (a la Rome) fighting for oil. It is evident that, in fact, “Why We Fight” is primarily, simply anti-capitalist (i.e., anti-free market). Michael Yon’s book is a “documentary” – yes, he’s biased and editorializes in favor of the US (and British & Iraqi) military. But he does not argue the legitimacy of the War – pro or ...

  • Moment of Truth in Iraq by Michael Yon (2008)

Non bias discription on actual conduct in Iraq, good and bad. It's what the press doesn't want you to know. This book raises hope that we can bring freedom to Iraq and conquer terrorism in the Middle East. Learn about what counterinsurgency really means and how it has changed the respect our fighting forces have on the iraqi's. Great read.
