The first half of the movie is a sort of wild love story, the type where crazy girl teaches lonely guy to loosen up a bit, and do things like wear slightly more exciting underwear. It’s funny, weird, and in a strange way sweet. Cuthbert makes me sweat every time she’s on screen without ever saying a word. She has amazing presence on camera and not just because of her bodacious and frequently wet bod. In the second half of the film, things fall apart for Mathew and the film becomes less about his relationship with Cuthbert’s Danielle, and more about Mathew getting the cahones to stand up whatever the odds. In fact, my one big complaint with the film is that it abandons Danielle almost entirely in the latter half, becoming absorbed entirely with Mathew’s fight. The big surprise (which was already ruined in the trailers) is that Danielle is a porn star, trying to leave the biz. Mathew finds out when his friends discover her on video. He comes to grips with it, only to see her hauled back into the industry by her sleaze-boy producer Kelly (Read full review
I bought it beccause it is a great hick flick for a good night in. I had seen it on tv quite recently and loved the film from the first moment i watched it. The film is about an ex female porn star who has moved to a new school to haave a fresh start when some of te guys whogoes to her school recognized her from one of the films they had watched. Their friend who happens to be going out with her diddnt know about her past and has to look beyond what she was and what she is now.
A straight 'A' student Matthew Kidman (Emile Hirsch) with no experience of life and what it is to live falls in love with the girl next door, the beautiful and seemingly innocent Danielle (Elisha Cuthbert) When he and his friends discover she isn't quite as innocent as she seems, the couple run into problems that will cure Matthew of his innocence entirely. The Girl Next Door is a funny movie with a funny script and a very competent cast. Its very enjoyable to watch and its packed with hilarious moments and sexy women.
I like the way its funny almost like an American Pie type of film, and the gorgeous women in it especially Elisha Cuthbert! Its a lads and a girls film at the same time ie sex references for the boys & love story with a happy ending for the girls. This makes it a great overall film with a good story with a number of twists. One of my top 5 films i'd say! 10/10
Typical american teen garbage, was bought in error for the other film of the same title in which a young girl is systematicaly abused and killed by her foster parents.
I saw this film with a mate a couple of weeks back, and I enjoyed the humour and storyline. However, the the best thing about it is the lead female. Elisha Cuthbert is stunning as ex-pornstar Danielle, and will certainly please the male contingent of the audience. She was 20 when this film was shot, and is still a gorgeous woman at 27 nowadays. Emile Hirsch also does a sterling job as Matthew, the 18 student who falls for Danielle (and I don't blame him). Timothy Olyphant puts in a great performance aswell Danielle's producer, offering some manly quips along the way. Klitz (Paul Dano) and Eli (Chris Marquette) also provide some laughs along the way, with Marquette having some the funniest lines in the film. This film is harmless, and if you like "Risky Business" or "American Pie", this is your kind of film. Just misses out on an excellent rating because it is ver cheesy. Having said that, it is definitely worth watching, even if it is just for Elisha Cuthbert. DemonbreeDRead full review
The Girl Next Door is a nice little romantic comedy about a school boy, whose dream comes true, when a centre fold model moves in next door. Several usual sexual innuendos abound.
Really good funny film with a few naughty bits. Good entertainment. DVD has several section for additional information above the standard film. I found these additional bits to be fun to watch. Th film it's self was a really good evening's entertainment.
An excitinilgy funny comedy, on the edge of riskey but leaves you wanting more, Elisha Cuthbert is an Angel and the rest of the cast well suited to their roles all in all an outstanding film wel worth it
