Breach is a team-based multiplayer first-person shooter that places heavy emphasis on cover and the use of destructible environments to gain a tactical advantage. During the course of a single match, players can alter the battlefield in a variety of ways, including destroying any floor or ceiling to surprise or crush foes, blasting holes in walls to create a door or protective cover, and targeting enemy cover and sniper's nests to leave opponents exposed. Gamers can stick to cover with the push of a single button, at which point the camera switches from a first-person view to a third-person view to allow for a better vantage point while blind-firing.<br><br>Breach's story finds players joining a mysterious division of the CIA as they engage in black operations throughout four different maps. The five available character classes include: Riflemen, who excel at both short- and mid-ranged combat with automatic weapons; Gunners, who are slower, stronger, and deal more damage; Support, who specialize in lethal close-range attacks; Snipers, who deal heavy damage from long range; and the Recon class, a lightly armed group that specializes in mid- to long-range combat.<br><br>Gamers earn experience points from kills and team victories, allowing them to upgrade each class with more than 20 real weapons, 13 character perks, and 11 different spy gadgets. Aside from a traditional 16-player "Team Deathmatch" mode, Breach also offers an "Infiltration" mode, where gamers earn points for possessing key landmarks; "Convoy" mode, in which one team tries to advance a group of vehicles while the other team tries to stop them; and "Retrieval" mode, where both teams compete to capture a randomly placed biological weapon.
