The purpose of an expansion vessel is to protect closed water heating systems and domestic hot water systems from excessive pressure. The tank is partially filled with air which will, when sized correctly, absorbs excess water pressure caused by thermal expansion. The expansion vessel pressure should be checked each year with the annual boiler service. It is common if the vessel pressure has dropped that the pressure relief valve on the heating system will begin to pass water. .
The one I received was grey in colour but not really important. On this vessel the mounting bracket was part of the vessel i.e. welded on. On my old one the bracket was a separate fixing added to the vessel. Both types of brackets fit the same way so not a problem. The end number (13A6001200) was different on my old one and this probably reflects the different designs mention above. Installed and working fine.
Very good OEM expansion vessel. Easy to swap out to replace the faulty one, only one connection to undo after you have depressurised the heating system.
