    Not required, as it turned out, but good to have as a spare.

    I have an Apollo ITE HOT-661V desktop computer system, using this C.P.U., which recently failed completely, after several years of intermittent freezing up / going non responding (Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition). It became apparent, after checking the power supply voltages, that the C.P.U. core voltage (2.0 Volts) was low (1.0 Volts); this is generated on the motherboard, but only when the C.P.U. is plugged in, so trying a substitute was a reasonable next step, before contemplating the expense of a new motherboard. However, unfortunately, this did not improve the situation, as it was the same, as with the original unit, so back to the drawing board! Further investigation lead to two dried out 1000uF electrolytic filter capacitors, in the motherboard C.P.U. core voltage regulator ...
