Product Information

AN AMERICAN CLASSIC FROM THE NO.1 BESTSELLING MASTER THRILLER WRITER ______________________________ THE MULTI-MILLION COPY BESTSELLER John Grisham's first and most shocking novel, adapted as a film starring Samuel L. Jackson and Matthew McConaughey When Carl Lee Hailey guns down the violent racists who raped his ten-year-old daughter, the people of the small town of Clanton, Mississippi see it as justice done, and call for his acquittal. But when extremists outside Clanton - including the KKK - hear that a black man has killed two white men, they invade the town, determined to destroy anything and anyone that opposes their sense of justice. A national media circus descends on Clanton. As tensions mount, Hailey hires the inexperienced Jake Brigance to defend him. It's the kind of case that could make a young lawyer's career. But it's also the kind of case that could get a young lawyer killed. ______________________________ The original, epoch-defining Jake Brigance novel. Brigance returns in SYCAMORE ROW and A TIME FOR MERCY. ______________________________ 'A master at the art of deft characterisation and the skilful delivery of hair-raising crescendos' - Irish Independent 'John Grisham is the master of legal fiction' - Jodi Picoult 'The best thriller writer alive' - Ken Follett 'John Grisham has perfected the art of cooking up convincing, fast-paced thrillers' - Telegraph 'Grisham is a superb, instinctive storyteller' - The Times 'Grisham's storytelling genius reminds us that when it comes to legal drama, the master is in a league of his own.' - Daily Record 'Masterful - when Grisham gets in the courtroom he lets rip, drawing scenes so real they're not just alive, they're pulsating' - Mirror 'A giant of the thriller genre' - TimeOut

Nice book. Sent from Germany but it was in English as described. The only complaint I have is about the mail service that the buyer used, Parcelforce. They tried to deliver Once only, but didn’t leave a card. Instead they sent me a letter telling me to either pick it up at their depot 5 miles away and pay £1, or arrange a redelivery for £5.50. Not impressed, and I’ve learned to stay away from Parcelforce in future. Otherwise good transaction. Thanks!

It wa bit disappointing that the seller wouldn't reply to my questions about why the description said 'used good' and not what was wrong with it and why not mint, & offering to 'accept an offer' but didn't so I ended up paying full price and taking a chance. However, the vinyl was dispatched immediately and arrived before its expected delivery date, and was packaged securely in 2nd hand shipper. The quality of the vinyl cover was nr mint and vinyl mint so did match the appearance and I am happy.

  • Great pace in his writing. Great characters.

great so far ! I Had read one other Grisham (Rogue Lawyer), but as this was his first released novel, which initially did not flood the market I wanted to see if John Grisham is worth the hype. Am not a quarter way through yet, but the story is compelling me to read it, and I like the pace of it. This novel is some what distressing due to the events contained, so it's probably best to bear that in mind & read the synopsis. Very pleased with this, and loving Grisham's style very much. Shall be continuing my reading this evening. would recommend.
