  • Great Supplement to International Second Edition

So far my impression has been that the second edition is better structured and contains more material. However, the affordable international edition doesn't have the last chapter on Galois Theory. So this edition can be used just to read that final chapter, if not for merely studying the same material from two different books and approach the material from a slightly different angle.

  • Great Content, lots of excercises. Gives Insight

So far the book has been excellent. The style of writing has enough explanation without loosing the rigor of the content. This book accompanied by the YouTube lectures on Abstract Algebra by Professor Benedict Gross of Harvard have helped me understand the subject that had remained a mystery for a long time. One thing is to have a formal presentation such as other relatively inexpensive books in Dover and quite another is getting an insight into the meaning and connections to other fields. Also the ammount of excercises is reasonable for a textbook.
