If you're into sourdough and haven't tried this, you need to... It's fabulous. Comes all ready to feed and use pretty much right away. Texture and taste is excellent, it also seems to a lovely active culture working very well at extended cooler fermentation. It's the starter I use most of the time now - Love it !

I got my sourdough starter (I am waiting to see if it works I will update the review) but instead of 120 grams I could only get 80 grams out of the package because the starter leaked in the envelope from the plastic bag and it was everywhere the envelope even got a whole in it. I am sure it's lovely but they need to sort out the delivery method.

As it happens I had just made a sourdough when the request to review this product came in. So, whilst munching on a nice fresh piece of bread with some delicious Etorki on board, here goes. The packaging was good, the product was lively and the online instructions and suggestions round out a well produced package. It has been in my care for over a month now, and I have been feeding it and it has been feeding me. As to the quality of the bread, the first loaf I made a friend had dropped in to visit and was leaving in the evening as the loaf went to oven. She is a big sourdough fan and the smell was getting to her, so it was no surprise that she turned up in the morning to try the loaf before driving off the 200 miles home. She loved it and we got a phone call that evening to say she may drive down again soon for another slice. I`d say this is a hit ! If you are a sourdough fan, with the patience to bake it, I`d recommend this yeast.Read full review

I love proper sourdough bread and this provides not only the starter but a good recipe and helpful information. This is very useful and can be used to avoid the hundreds of different recipes that can be found elsewhere. I have now baked about 5 loaves including a wholemeal and all have been very good to excellent. Certainly better than standard supermarket "sourdough" bread and, in my view, at least as good as artisan bakers. Of course, this is not all down to the starter, but the starter provided "awoke" quickly and has behaved perfectly. I am not sure how much of the yeast can be said to be San Francisco yeast since it must have been fed using local flour and yeast but who cares!
