AIRFIX A12203 - TYPE 45 DESTROYER The Royal Navy destroyer, the Type 45, has the most distinctive design. Its sleekly designed straight edges and clutter-free superstructure are designed to give the ship a low radar cross section, commonly referred to as stealth functions. This is said to give her a radar signal no larger than a fishing boat. The six British 'Bold Class' Type 45 destroyers are the most advanced escorts the nation has ever built. They are designed to protect a naval task force from air attack using the Sea Viper missile system. Their Aster missiles can shoot down targets from the sky over 70 miles away if necessary.
