Maybe TOO tight fit for Canon EF 300mm 2.8 lens
My quibble with this LowePro case is it is too small for a 300 2.8 lens WITH hood. I have found that the only sure way to get the lens into the case is mount first ( upside down, if you will ). This means the case is REALLY top heavy so make sure you don't just stand it upright, as it will likely topple over. Some will say..well..why don't you store the hood elsewhere? Because a hood on this lens is a necessary item to diminish refraction and the such and if you are on the road like I can be, not being able to stow the hood with the lens is a problem. I am a pro photog and use the S&F system, backpack, roller, and individual lens cases for all my regular sized gear, but I think LowePro has dropped the ball on their big lens offerings.My quibble with this LowePro case is it is too small for a 300 2.8 lens WITH hood. TOO SMALL FOR NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E with HOOD
This case is fine if you have a telephoto lens and have no use for the hood, but if the hood is stored on the lens, the case is too tight. Lowepro really needs to make this case 1" bigger in diameter. I think they might try adopting the APE case idea of having a case with a larger interior diameter, but provide an extra padded removable inner liner for lenses with smaller diameters.
