About this product

Product Information

Chris Stewart's Driving Over Lemons told the story of his move to a remote mountain farm in Las Alpujarras - an oddball region of Spain, south of Granada. Funny, insightful and real, the book became an international bestseller. A Parrot in the Pepper Tree, the sequel to Lemons, follows the lives of Chris, Ana and their daughter, Chloe, as they get to grips with a misanthropic parrot who joins their home, Spanish school life, neighbours in love, journalists beating a path to their door . . . and the shock of discovering that their beloved valley might once more be under threat of a dam.A Parrot in the Pepper Tree also looks back on Chris Stewart's former life - the hard times shearing in midwinter Sweden (and driving across the frozen sea to reach island farms); his first taste of Spain, learning flamenco guitar as a 20-year old; and his illustrious music career, drumming for his school band Genesis (sacked at 17, he never quite became Phil Collins), and then for a circus.

A great light read with excellent descriptions. I felt I was there.

Chris Stewart has an amazing way of telling his story about his life in Andalusia in a heartwarming and humorous way. He describes the good times - and the not so good times and how he and his family deal with it all. The setting sounds idyllic. Why doesn't everyone want to follow their dream now? If Chris can, we all should at least try!!

  • A good sequel to Driving over Lemons

This is a well written book and a good sequel to the authors first book "Driving Over Lemons". Very easy to read and hard to put down once you start. Thoroughly recommend.

  • Marvellous, entertaining and funny little book.

Marvellously entertaining little book which is a sequel to Driving over Lemons. The books are about the experiences of the author and his family in their farm in the mountains of southern Spain. Take the books on holiday or to bed on a winter night. If you have that kind of sad life, they will certainly cheer you up. I hope the author writes or has already written more like it. I bought and read them on the advice of a friend, yes, I have one.

  • Loved Driving over Lemons and this is just as good.

A lovely book, well written and full of laughs! Looking forward to reading the Almond Blossom appreciation society!
