Im totally inlove with this book...it is truley amazing work of art. The water colour pictures the poems and the illustrations are mesmarizing...makes me feel privaliged to own something so close to time gone by in her own words. This book really does inspire and make you really appreciate all the little things that mother nature provides and offers us..to look at its beauty and be in that moment.. I wish i could thank Edith holden for her beautyful writings and drawings. Thank you to Rowena Scott ediths great niece for allowing such a beaut to be published it really does take you back in time. I cannot put the book down this is definatly one to cherish. The world before pollution and extinction.
The book is 2nd hand but you would hardly know it as this has been looked after I had a copy from new but lost it in a flood so glad to be able to get again . I like this as the country side has changed so much over the 100 plus years since this was written, if you like art , poetry and folklore this is for you.

An idea I have seen elsewhere but with this book so exciting to make one's own.
I am going to say the content is compelling ..even though I haven't yet read a word! I bought this charming book for its beautiful month by month illustrations on vellum coloured pages. It stands upright and open on our hall nature table surrounded by seasonal items and plants collected on nature walks. An idea I have seen elsewhere but with this book so exciting to make one's own. I try to choose flora and objects (both faux and actual) to at least partially echo those depicted in the illustrations. For April among other items we had a handmade nest complete with bird. For May we have had bluebells real and faux. Currently on our table, fresh honeysuckle is tucked into faux ivy clambering upwards, over a half hidden fairy engrossed in her book. In conjunction with the idea of a Nature ... I am going to say the content is compelling ..even though I haven't yet read a word! I bought this charming book for its beautiful month by month illustrations on vellum coloured pages. Memories of times once told to me by my great grandparents.
We had a copy this Book and it admired by our Granddaughter in Law so we bought this one for her. We are pleased to say that she was delighted to receive her every own copy.
