This is a reliable freehub design. It does however lack the double seals found on the older ones. My only guess is that the rubber cone shaped seals caused too much drag so Shimano went with a single seal design. The hub bearings were too tight, so I adjusted them until there was neither any drag nor any play. Everyone should know how too adjust bearing tension on Shimano hubs and have the needed cone wrench but he should not have to do this on a new hub. Hub was 422 grams without the quick release.

The hub only has a few hundred km on it so it's too early to tell about durability but I had an XT hub on my previous wheelset and it is still usable while the rims are toat so i don't expect any problem.

What's not to like about a Shimano xt product. Strong, durable, and long lasting. A lil heavy but not bad.
