Even though I know a little about photography entering into the world of DSLR cameras there is still a whole lot to learn. There are some settings on the camera that allow you to still point and shoot so you can jump in an out of the camera's different menus. I feel it going to take a while before I am completely confident and competent using this but I am already getting some really good results. Owning this camera its really teaching me that there is an art to photography and getting a really good shot takes time. I have also invested in a speedflash which again adds another thing to learn but the results I have achieved by bouncing light from different angels creates that professional look to your images.

This is my second camera (both are Nikon d3300) I find it easy to use, I would recommend getting a book that explains functions or take an evening class if you are just starting out. I love the red colour of this version. Not too heavy with the lense that comes with it. Haven't yet found something I don't like about it. I would love to have the money to purchase better quality lenses but for now I'm happy. I guess the only thing I would say, is I didn't know that if you take multiple shots in the sports mode, you must wait for the burst of shots to write to your memory card before taking more shots. You can see them being written by the small green light flashing in the bottom right coroner of the screen view side of the camera (it will stop when complete) If you don't wait it can corrupt the image...especially if shooting in RAW mode.Read full review

The D3300 is Wifi ready but you need to buy the wifi dongle for it to work. When you have it, it transfers the images you take quickly, much quicker than the D7100, which is a higher spec camera. It is an entry level camera and as such does not have its own motor, which means you have to make sure that the lenses you buy for it, do have their own motors. This is a light camera and it is 24 megapixel so it's good. It has scene modes for automatic mode for beginners but it also has aperture priority, shutter priority and manual. Highly recommended

I bought this for my 11 year old who has a keen eye. Since we bought it he has read up so much on different techniques and is taking some really fantastic shots.
