I have never had a headset for the XBOX besides the little Microsoft ones. When I got my taxes I decided to splurge and enjoy some MLG time with a boss headset. After researching the best possible headsets, I found the Astro A40 online. I have never seen anything like it. Those used to the MLG business weren't nearly as excited as I was, but I was like a kid in the candy shop. First thing ... when you open this baby the packaging is way cool. Multi-fold-out box displays your headset, and then there is another compartment that opens with your cords. The other side of the headset has the mixamp. Simple instructions to get your headset and mixamp up and running come in the box as well. You have to attach the mic yourself, and while doing this I noticed the earpiece covers were magnetic! How cool is that?! After plugging everything in and turning up the volume it's time to see what this baby's got. And man was I floored. Talk about bringing any game to a whole new level! Game sounds are crisp and clear, bass is phenomenal. If you are more into chatting than gaming, you can turn your mixamp knob to voice more than game. There are a couple of things I don't like about the headset, inevitably. When you have the headset on, others around you can clearly hear what is going on, which can be a distraction. You, however, can't hear ANYTHING anyone else says to you if you have the volume high enough. It's just you and that game you're playing. I also had a comment that while someone could hear me talking, it was muffled. I would have liked a crisp clear sound that I hear on other people's mics. But I'm not sure that is directly related to the mic, so I didn't bring my rating down a star. Overall a great gaming headset and as long as it lasts a long time, well worth the money. If it breaks anytime soon (like Turtle Beaches break at the hinges), I will not be a happy camper.Read full review
I strongly, STRONGLY urge that if you are in the market for a headset that this be the one you purchase. Coming out of a defective Turtle Beach headset and moving to this on a recommendation by someone I play Siege with I LOVE THIS HEADSET. The sound quality is unmatched (they don't make some soundbars this good). The setup is easy and the product is comfortable to wear. I will NEVER buy another headset from another company. Astro has outdone themselves with the quality of this product. The aesthetics also are a strong point in my opinion. Love the color combo. Wires have a great length to them and easy to understand operations. You will not be disappointed.

I prefer the A40's over the A50's due to the simple fact the A50's are wireless and the battery life is horrible in them. Grate sound quality even better then my turtle beaches

The headset didn’t even work when I received it and it didn’t come with everything it actually needed to use the headset then when I bought the part it needed headset didn’t even work.

This is Headset is the best headset I've ever had. I tried Turtle beaches, Sony, Steelseries but nothing compares to Astro A40s. The Mix Amp is an Amazing feature. The sound quality of Game/Voice together is so clear it feels that your friends are right next you and you are in the game. Fantastic Headset. I shall only play games with this headset from now on. The only fault is its not wireless but wired equipment is needed to play competitively.
