      As good today as the day it was written

      This is one of the classic accounts of real life in the RFC during WW1. It's well written (if a bit flowery for today's tastes) and has significant amounts of useful detail. It also gives a fascinating insight into the society of the day then finally finishes with a young man's experiences in China in the early 1920s. A "must read" for any aviation buff or social historian of the period.

      A gripping first-hand account of the beginnings of aerial combat, and some interesting insights into the aftermath of the war and the different directions aviation took. Acutely observed and very well written. Highly recommended bot to pilots and those with an interest in military history.
