This has been a good converter box, works not just analog tv's but digital tv's as well. I would recommend it. It has all the features, and the buttons work a little easier than the IView box I have recommended before. I noticed on the Homeworx that when memory is full, it flashes a message on the tv screen and does not record any more till you delete some recordings. Digital TV's will play VCR pre-recorded tapes through the RCA jacks input and it is a good picture at 1080. To record digital signal over-the-air (or cable it says in manual) you need to buy a usb flash drive, the 3.0 type for video and recommend 32gb or more. It's kind of fun. I have connected two converter boxes to a digital TV with the hdmi inputs. With that I can record on two channels at the same time, like a favorite show and movie on the other channel the same time. With the digital network they have now, these converter boxes w/dvr save money without paying $100 for a singular function dvr unit.Read full review

The remote worked for a week, now more then half the buttons don't work. I can get to the menu but then cant move to the left or right this the arrows for settings. The USB port worked well the first few times I tried it. I used a 16 GB stick with AVI, MP4 and MKV movies and all of the formats played. But now I can no longer get the OK button to work at the USB screen to watch any movies I have stored. The USB feature buttons at the bottom will bring up the USB menu but the arrow buttons don't work. The unit works but the remote is poor. This remote is poorly made. I can still change the stations but can not turn it off seeing the power button has never worked. Spend a little more money and get something better then this piece of junk.

This worked much better than one I purchased for twice as much from a local discount department store and returned. It is easy to use for basic viewing and recording on the fly. I have yet to figure out from the very terse directions how to do a scheduled recording. It takes the signal from my window antenna and gives a clear image. The quality of recording on a USB2 drive was perfect. The device itself seems perfect. The only reason I rated it 4 out of 5 stars was the scanty directions that were included.

This item is NOT ready for prime time. The instruction manual is poor so unless you are an experienced user of converter boxes and are willing to suffer through "trial and error" learning plus dealing with a box that is only 75% functional save your money and try a different box. This item won't permanently save the date, the time, or the "deleted" channels list - It frequently erases the settings once you have them programmed. The "operating" system for responding to the remote is flawed - the system doesn't do what the key press says. The "signal strength" display always says "90%" so antenna adjustment relies on turning the antenna until you find the best picture. I can go on but I hope you get the idea. This product gets MULTIPLE thumbs down!

Item, menu all look simple - yet with good antenna in good location (tested without this device) device from minute one would give no channel. End up hunting internet for some clue, hint - nothing viable. Device merely appears defective so have returned and am in the midst of waiting for the refund. Collective review didn't look good which I took with grain of salt as in are some people confused by setup/cables?? So with cheap price, go it. I am not a fan of defective out of the box.
