Current slide {CURRENT_SLIDE} of {TOTAL_SLIDES}- Best-selling in Battery Grips
The Pentax D-BG3 Battery Grip holds four AA cells to provide an auxiliary power source for a Pentax K200D digital camera, doubling the battery capacity from the four AA batteries stored inside the camera itself to a total of eight. It also provides a second shutter release button and AE-L (automatic exposure lock) button for use when shooting in portrait mode. You can choose in the camera's settings menu to have the camera draw from its internal batteries first, the battery grip first or let the camera choose in the default 'Auto' mode. It makes good sense to go with the 'grip first' option so you still have a fully charged set of batteries in the camera when the battery grip is depleted. Many users also claim there is an ergonomic advantage to having a battery grip on the camera, especially with a large, heavy lens attached since it will provide better balance. Of course, this advantage is at the expense of added weight and bulk to carry around. If your arms get tired when handling a full size DSLR camera for an extended period of time, they will get tired more quickly with a battery grip in place. Fortunately, you can instantly lighten the camera by removing the grip by unscrewing it from the camera's tripod mount. Just remember to take the contact cover from its storage spot on top of the battery grip and put it back on the bottom of the camera to protect the contacts that allow the camera and battery grip to communicate with each other.Read full review
