Since it is a ceramic pickup with a more moderate output compared to a JB, the Custom definitely has more clarity under high gain settings. If you went to Seymour's forums, many would describe it as having a more snarl like attack as opposed to a growl you find with alnico pickups. • Great sounding pickup!

Replaced a DiMarzio Super Distortion with the Duncan Custom in an alder bodied BC Rich Gunslinger. The Custom provides a nice bright crunch whereas the DiMarzio was more distorted and compressed. Also noticed that the poles on the Seymour Duncan were exactly aligned with the strings with the Floyd Rose, the Super Distortion's were not even though it was the F-spaced version.
