The Taylor 414ce is a great guitar for playing a variety of styles. The neck and action feel great. Very easy to play flat picking or finger style with the thinner body. The only sacrifice is the volume projected by the Grand Auditorium. Obviously not the same punch as a full size dreadnought. Awesome guitar for playing alone or plugged in to kick up the volume. I am a long time Martin player and the Taylor 414c3 is a nice addition...
Well, when people talk about great guitars, it seems like it's either Martin or Taylor. After looking at the local music store and seeing thousand dollar Chinese guitars knowing that they would lose half their value the moment I purchased one, I decided then and there that I was going to buy American. I considered Breedlove, Martin and Taylor. After doing a lot of research I zero'd in on the Taylor 414ce as a great guitar that I could grow into. I've been playing in fits and starts for 30 years and intend to hook up with a good teacher this winter and get serious. The guitar I purchased was 10 years old and the action was not great. I'm pretty handy, so I got what I needed from a luthier supply house and reset the neck relief, lowered the saddle and re-cut the nut slots. It is now a joy to play. Stays in tune across days of not playing and sounds terrific. Mine has the Fishman pickup system which is excellent. The newer ones have a different system which is also terrific. I think I finally have a guitar I can live with for many years to come.Read full review
What more can I say about this guitar that has not been said? Playing this unplugged plays and sounds better than many popular competitors out there. Solid woods are obviously better than veneers and the types of woods are personal preference. And the electronics enhances the overall sound and keeping it simple. No additional effects needed. A great investment and built to last!

I have always loved the martin guitar and thought there was nothing better. I acquired a little money and wanted a new guitar so I went my local shop and decided to compare. After about an hour I went home so confused about the proper selection and did not purchase a guitar. I was struggling with the fact that I didn't think I would own anything but a martin. I played the taylor 414ce and fell in love with it. I went back the next day with a good friend of mine, that was a good guitar player and thought I would get his advice as he also felt like I did about the martin. He was shocked as I was and said you are correct, It is a better playing and sounding guitar. The cutout does compromise the low tones a little but all in all, I bought the Taylor. No regrets

I've never owned a guitar as nice as the Taylor 414ce. I've only owned the Taylor for a very short time so I can't give a thorough evaluation; however I can say this guitar has beautiful tone and resonance. It sings clear and bright much like I've heard other Taylor owners say.
