If you're planning a career on sculpting in polystyrene or balsa wood, then this tool is probably the one for you. Joking aside, it is way overpriced for what you actually get. The motor is nowhere near up to the job. Far too lightweight, burnt out after FIRST moderate use (grinding smooth a mild steel bolt stump). Shame really, as I'm £100 down now, and I'll be thinking twice about buying any other Proxxon tools in the future. Fork out a bit more and buy the ArborTech one.

I was hesitant at first with this proxxon as of the price but it’s been fantastic carving all hard woods and does it with ease,( but this isn’t for carving steel and wasn’t built for it , was built (just wood carving) and so quite.? Amazing well worth every penny and plenty of 50mm (2”)carving blades. I’ve added a picture of what I purchased as great price and the 50mm chisel blade and removes hard woods fantastic and saves so much time??

A useful addition to my smaller rotary carving tools. variable speed would be an improvement.

This is my second one so if this one lasts as long I will be very happy.

Very useful lightweight but tough and powerful enough to some jobs that a lager angle grinder would destroy .
