  • A tribe of early man in a world that is raw and fresh with no technology - history as carefully researched fiction

This is a brilliant masterpiece. If you like to explore the history of the human and our world this is a wonderful fiction story that builds on logical imaging of what the world would have looked like. Its obviious that we cannot know exactly how people felt or detailed understanding of relationships but it does provide a picture built from things that have been suggested by findings from the past. It is a long read but its necessary to help build the context of life then. i have read it a number of times but never fail to be impressed by the depth of description. Its better than a film as you can define the people yourself. I dont mind having a second hand book as i was brought up to use a library - and the description of quality was accurate - and it made the price very fair. Its ...

  • good read, new updated cover, softback version

The Clan of the Cave Bear book(film available I believe ive seen it... not v memorable tho, book, as ever, much more detailed)... excellent read... full of researched facts on flora and fauna and very believable scenarios. Nice, 'light' read following a heroine-lead-character through trials and tribulations. Set in Stong-Age times, it does not go out of fashion. Auel apparently winning awards for her research/discoveries. This and the following 4/5 books in the series cannot be beaten on entertainment value - Ive read these books more than three times over the years... and still go back to them... Fans of Auel called for an encore and she produced a final 6/7th book which didnt seem as popular - but, to me, she gave the fans more of what she could do, shame on them for shouting ...

  • Must read book

Excellent book. I was reluctant to read it when it was recommended to me as it didn't sound too exciting but wow it is an amazing book.
