    Phenomenal book, excellent value reading

    An amazing and hefty (655 pages) slice of life from the near future by one of the world's top futurist authors. David Brin explores so many intriguing aspects of technology and society that the reader may find it a little overwhelming at first. But stick with it and a rich and fascinating landscape opens out to welcome visitors to his mid-21st century world. Important issues, such as how we deal with alien knowledge and enhanced forms of humanity are just two of the mind-stretching concepts that may determine our very existence. The future may not be a comfortable place for mankind, but it will be fascinating.
