The Western Digital Caviar Green 1 TB hard drive makes personal computers more eco-friendly. The Intelliseek, No Touch, and IntelliPower technologies of the Western Caviar Green hard drive allow for 40 percent less power consumption than what ordinary PCs use. It is also cool and quiet and runs at very low operating temperatures. Low temperatures translate to more reliability and decreased acoustics making it perfect for business and personal computers as well as high-performing desktop PCs. With 1 TB capacity, the device measures 10.2 x 14.7 x 2.5 cm and weighs just 0.6 kg. It operates as either an external or internal hard drive. As an external drive, no fan is required. The transfer rate of the Western Digital Caviar Green 1 TB hard drive is 300 MGps as an external drive with108 MGps internal data rate. The Western Caviar Green hard drive uses a Serial ATA 300 interface with a 32 MB buffer. The Western Caviar Green 1 TB hard drive is S.M.A.R.T and RoHS compliant. The Western Caviar Green 1 TB hard drive is high capacity with enough room for storage-intensive programs and operating systems, as well as photos, music, videos and more. Western Digital for good value and high quality
This is an excellent hard drive, western digital provide excellent software free of charge to help with data transfer between drives, as a word of caution be sure your computer will run a 6 Gb/s hard drive, when I purchased this I could not do a disc copy because my old drive had a different sector size, the solution is to buy a pci x1 card which has the ability to run 6 Gb/s and connect the new drive to the card and this will allow disc copying/cloning, the card only cost me £12 so for a small price I could use this drive which is of high quality, cost effective and cool running. I have no complaints having bought this hard drive and would recommend it anybody looking to upgrade their hard drive.

Great Hdd, quiet, sata2 is superfast compared to the IDE drive that I have upgraded from and 1TB gives loads of space

I've got two they are great.
I bought this drive because i need something dependable. Thay are primary function is that of a storage device, not for use with operatng systems but all in a all an excellent purchase.
