Players return to Sin City sidewalks seeking the scoop on a zombie outbreak, and find themselves neck-deep in fast-paced survival-horror action. Off the Record is a spin-off in the Dead Rising series that plays through the events of the sequel from the perspective of the original game's hero, Frank West.<br><br>In good Dead Rising style, the one-against-hundreds tension of a horror adventure is set off by the fast-paced carnage of an arcade action game, seasoned with unflinching violence and a gruesome sense of humor, and set in an open, sandbox-style world. Although the Fortune City surroundings and zombie monsters -- as well as the photojournalist hero -- will be familiar to series veterans, the game's story follows a new path through the events of the second undead outbreak, with original cut-scenes, missions, puzzles, enemy types, and creatively re-appropriated zombie-killing gear. As in the first Dead Rising, Frank can snap candid photos of his zombie victims, in their most horrid and amusing moments, to earn Prestige Points and unlock special abilities. Technical improvements make for shorter load times and smoother play than in previous Dead Rising games.

I've played them all. Dead Rising, Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, Dead Rising 2, Dead Rising 2: Case West, and now, Dead Rising 2: Off The Record. I'm a hardcore fan of this amazing series, and I'll tell you, this one takes the gold home. They finally implemented the very needed "Sandbox" mode. No Zombrex, No Story, No Stupid Survivors. Just fool around and kill everything. And we get back our favorite reporter, Frank West, as he uncovers an even weirder story than our other friend, Chuck Greene. 3 new Psychopaths are added, including someone we all know, Someone we all don't care about, and a big surprise. This is an excellent game. I have been playing dead rising since the first one came out, and have greatly enjoyed all of them, but this one takes the cake. It improves on its predecessors in many ways, such as the improved camera function (I actually use it)the many, many creative ways to kill zombies, be it combo weapons, using adult toys, or simply punching ones face in while wearing women's clothes. Although the actual mechanics of the game are really fun and enjoyable, a large number of them were already addressed during Dead Rising 2. Graphics are the same, combo weapons have already been used, and as this is really a perfection of Dead Rising 2 as opposed to a new game, the story was kept mostly the same, and it made more sense with its original character Chuck (but thats not to say ... The co-op function is also much better than before, and is something every two man team should try out. It plays well off the crazy vibe the Dead Rising games give off. Now you don't have to worry about making it to the next mission in time, instead of using your latest crazy contraption to kill a horde of zombies you come across. So in the end, I really have to say that this game may not add enough for someone who doesn't already play Dead Rising every day to buy this if they already own Dead Rising 2. However, I can safely say that if you either have not bought Dead Rising 2 yet, enjoy dead Rising as much as I do, or simply have $40 bucks to blow, buy this game. If you fall into the first category, maybe you should wait for Dead Rising 3 with me.

One if my favorite games ever! The sandbox mode is fantastic. I actually own this on ps3 but just bought another copy on xbox360 for my son. Dead Rising is fun for the whole family.
