  • A fantastic plane which was part in our history.

I had read the Spitfire Children a month ago; It is very well written and based on the BBC podcast by Alistair Cross about the apprentices who built the Spitfire. The book is fascinating about the apprentices who helped to built the planes on the build up to the battle of Britain in 1941; to the inventor R.J Mitchell a very talented engineer, other polymaths who also played their parts in tributing to a wonderful plane behind the scenes and those people who worked on the assembly lines [ a late aunt worked in one of those assembly lines]. This played a part of my families social history which makes me proud. I bought this book for my friend who enjoys social history which prompted me to.purchase this book.

  • First book in a while

I’m not normally one for sitting quietly somewhere reading any book, but I recently saw this book for sale and it instantly attracted me to the cover and reviews, so I thought I’d buy it and give it ago. I’m not disappointed and find the book easy to relate to. I’m 55 and am enjoying the daily hour I now set aside for reading this interesting factual story.
