    We had a fright some years ago when our central heating boiler was found to be leaking carbon monoxide. We've had a CM alarm ever since and it's time to replace it. This Kidde alarm is ideal and can be checked regularly. The alarm is loud enough to be heard around the house. A good buy and swiftly received from the seller.

    A neat and vigilent Carbon Monoxide detector

    Before choosing this Carbon Monoxide detector for a relative, I considered it carefully, bearing in mind the similar detector bought for our own house 6 years ago. I used the online 'Which?' survey, and found the review for this unit to be favourable. It is a convenient small brick shape so it will mount, sat on the top of a fridge freezer, or fixed by the supplied screws to a kitchen cupboard, with either placement facing the gas cooker. It is powered by 2 x replaceable AA Alkaline Cells (supplied), which should provide a long battery life. The expected lifetime of this detector is an adequate number of years. The 'test' button function gives an understanding of what an alert would sound like.

    trouble with the 2 fixing plugs and screws.

    It took me over an hour to try to drill the two holes to fix it to the wall. if the drill wanders a tiny bit you can't get both screws in through the supporting plate. When this happens you struggle to get it horizontal on the wall. it would be a lot easer if there was only one larger fixing screw, perhaps with a washer. You could then twist the box mechanism to be exactly square on the wall.

    compact ,very good value for money and came with all fittings and batteries. works well when tested won't know if it works properly until I have an emergency with gas supply! it has a 10 year life and 1 year for the batteries. Also impressed with the prompt delivery.

    Works perfectly, no worries so far. I love the fact it is battery powered, so can keep for years opposed to having to replace the whole unit when the battery dies like other brands. Which seems like a waste if there is no fault.
