About this product

Product Information

Baseball History for Kids is a fascinating and unique journey through the modern history of America's favorite pastime. Kids will discover how the game has changed over the years, reading about topics such as the Dead Ball Era, World War II, segregation and integration, Bonus Babies, the Reserve Clause and Free Agency, and the Designated Hitter. Along the way, they'll enjoy firsthand quotes and stories from more than 175 former major leaguers who were eyewitnesses to and participants in baseball's most incredible feats and biggest moments. Readers will also get an intimate look at the game's greatest legends, from Babe Ruth, Satchel Paige, and Ted Williams to Jackie Robinson, Mickey Mantle, and Willie Mays, including insightful and amusing anecdotes from former teammates and opponents. They will gain additional insight into the game through 19 interesting activities. Children will learn how to calculate a player's batting average and ERA, throw a palmball, design a logo for their favorite team, cook a bowl of Cracker Jack, and more. The book also includes a time line and list of books, websites, and places to visit.

Reviews
"Panchyk laces the bright, readable book with enough offbeat content that grown-up fans will learn a thing or two, too, in a book that pulls no punches." -- Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, "We've enjoyed previous attempts at making [baseball] books large and splashy, full of photos and graphics...[but] we'll give the slight edge here to Panchyk for his implicit attempt to get the reader to do more than just read." --Farther Off the Wall, part of The Los Angeles Daily News, "[A]N Informative Title That Should Be a Hit Among Sports-Minded Readers." -- School Library Journal, "[The book] offers a fascinating look at baseball's complex and fascinating transformation into a professional sport that is now played all over the world." --Idaho Dad

I recently bought a book from this seller on eBay and I'm thoroughly satisfied with the experience. The book arrived exactly as described, in excellent condition. Communication from the seller was clear and timely, making the transaction smooth and reassuring. Shipping was fast, and the book was packaged with care to prevent any damage. Overall, a fantastic purchase experience from a reliable seller. Highly recommended for anyone looking for quality books on eBay.

purchased the book “my feelings are like wild animals: how do I tame them?” I got it here because the price was $4.72. Condition is as described. The book was bent which likely occurred during shipping, because it was shipped unprotected, by itself. I wish it was shipped in protective cardboard or in a bubble wrap envelope (like other books from eBay.) Fortunately it’s easy to flatten out the bend by putting something heavy on top of the book. Therefore I’ll purchase from this seller again.
