    limited transmit watts but still good value.

    Original battery NiCad packs can be directly replaced with (3) AA sized cells.. : ) Most new radios of this class (FMS) are now limited to a max of 2 watts transmit power, but these still are useful at .5 to 1 watt depending on channel.

    Excellent for Camping or Events

    I purchased these to tie in with several other different units, in order to allow everyone to communicate during large events. Plus the extra range allows them to be used while hiking and camping. I've even used these, in the past, to allow family members to keep in touch while at fairs, making it easy to arrange to get back together when we're ready to leave. Overall, these work very well, and last a long time between charges. They're easy to control, easy to use, and I'm glad I purchased them.
