A modern massaging of the original square G-Shocks of the 80's. The atomic timekeeping is useful as you never have to adjust the time. The backlight is very brief and the automatic EL with wrist gesturing is wonky at best. Alarms, stopwatch and timer features come expected. Some caveats that may dissuade people from purchasing however. This watch is for smaller wrists. Daily sun is also needed to charge the battery enough to prevent the watch from going into deep sleep battery saving mode. It only wakes up after a day in direct sun. A good bargain if you can score one for under $100.

The watch is very small. I expected a much larger face. The 47mm advertised size is from band to band. It was deceiving to me. It's hard to read its so small.

After 6 weeks of ownership, I really, really like this watch. The resin band is comfortable, the notches are close enough for a good fit, and it is not excessively long; nor is the module itself too large or thick for my small wrists. The many features are easy to learn, useful, and usable - and quite customizable regarding connection with time broadcast, lighting, hourly chimes, 12/24 hr, and motion-activation of its backlight. The solar charging eliminates battery changes, and the charge lasts quite long. I am mostly in a low-light environment but it always, so far, indicates a "High" state of charge despite my frequent use the chrono, timer, alarms, chimes, and light. Whether low light, bright light, or dark, the display is very readable with good contrast - including while using the electrolum. I like the arrangement of information, accuracy (an obsession with me), fit, feel, and appearance. Furthermore, it's a G-shock. Also, though in many locations I'm sure the manual is correct and I'm just lucky near Louisville, KY, the nightly radio connection does not require me to take it off and leave it in one particular window facing west with no metal nearby - in fact, I almost never take it off and my reception signal strength is always highest and successful. I own several watches, and in a way I'm glad my Timex digital (with velcro band, and great display & features, has terrible time-keeping as it forced me to look elsewhere if I wanted a digital. I'm very happy with it, and this 40-year old dad is still driving his daughter nuts by pointing out how awesome it is. She even knows the city of the broadcast. :) Would not hesitate to buy again if I were to lose it.Read full review
Very nice classic style with updated internals (solar, atomic). You can't beat the value of this G-Shock, a regular 5610 without solar or atomic will cost you anywhere between 50-70 dollars. This watch is very comfortable and easy to wear, not too big nor too small. If you want a watch for work or play I recommend this G-Shock, it's great for just about all outdoor activities. I only take this watch off when I have a formal event to go to, other than that this great timepiece never leaves my wrist!

The watch is super comfortable to wear and read the time due to its lightweight and positive display with auto backlight. Classic design that goes well with a wide range of clothes and styles. I strongly recommend trying to get the GW5000 strap as it makes it even more comfortable. All the above makes it a great daily watch, whether for work or sports as it has timer and stopwatch functions, in addition to the well known G-SHOCK ruggedness. Its also solar so if you do wear it outside every now and then you'll never have to worry about the battery. Finally it is not expensive and very much worth the price. Overall very happy with the watch.

Great watch to wear day to day. Not really a statement piece, but functional, and does exactly what it aims to do - tell time. Been wearing this for a little over a month and it has not let me down. I'm a fairly big guy, and it fits well on my wrist. The only negative I have is that I've heard replacing the wristband can be a challenge due to the waterproofing and such, but I have had no problems with this watch at all.

I never have to press a button. I never have to change the battery. You get not only the time, but the day of the month, the day of the week, just by looking at it. If its dark and you want the time; you still don't press anything. But the light comes when you do the secret gesture. Daylight savings time change. No problem. You do nothing. Next morning, you got the right time. I love it. :-)

I have owned the Casio GWM5600 for several years. I gave my old G-Shock to my son. After about a year the battery died and after replacing the battery some of the functions no longer worked. Since the GWM 5600 has been updated to the GWM 5610 I bought one to replace his old G-Shock. It looks and works the same as my GWM5600. The really cool features about this watch are that it never needs a new battery and it synchronizes with an atomic clock every night. This is a truely no fuss watch. No extra bells and whistles. Most people have a smart phone that allows them to have all the games, contacts, and music they want so why have an expensive watch to worry about and a pricy smart phone? I can't think of a reason. $100 for a watch that has been proven tough and dependable for decades is a good bargain. If you have a loved one in law enforcement, EMS, military, or fire/rescue this would be a great gift that will last for many years.Read full review
Great little watch. Tough Solar and automatic atomic update daily. Old school digital watch but the band is small. I have since replaced the small resin band. Put on new watch band adapters and 24mm black NATO watch strap. Changes the whole look of the watch for the better.

The G-Shock was a childhood dream of my. I couldn't afford it then, so I had to make do with a Yamato watch that was ok, but not like the G-Shock. as time went by I grew up and at 30 bought a newer type of G-Shock from Casio that was OK and I wore it for a few years, but it wasn't the original G-Shock that I long to at 16... A few years afterwards came the Stainless Steel G-Shocks and of course I had to buy one, but it too fascinate me for a year and its charm went off. along came some edifice watches from Casio but I guess the craving for a proper G-Shock was still in me, so I bought this fine watch! Unfortunately I found out that not only the watch was a bit small, but that the strap was too short for my wrist (I've enclosed two pictures of my G-Shock on my wrist and for a comparison, two pictures of my Edifice on my wrist). I also found out that I can't see anything else on the screen, but the hour and to add insult to injury, after 2 weeks, not only that I don't wear it, but as much as I try, I can't even charge it fully... I don't regret buying it, but it seems I will need to buy a bigger one with a longer strap, in order to fulfill my childhood little dream. and about my deteriorating eyesight, well, you can't have it all...Read full review
